For the first time in her 25 years with the Supreme Court,Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will miss a scheduled session as she recovers from surgery.

Ginsburg has been forced to work from home after surgeons removed two cancerous lesions from her left lung.

Despite her inability to attend in person, Ginsburg still intends to “participate” in cases, She will be given access to the briefs, filings and transcripts from the missed session.

At 85-years-old Ginsburg is the oldest acting Justice on the court. But that hasn’t slowed her down despite numerous health issues such as prior bouts with cancer and breaking ribs in November.

In fact doctors have commended Ginsburg for her resilience and noted it as an example for others to follow.

Thoracic oncologist Dr. Geoff Oxnard praised her for taking appropriate steps to catch the problem in it’s infancy, “There is room for hope. We can change the story here. Patients need to ask themselves, ‘How can I be like Ruth Bader Ginsburg? How can I catch it early?’”
