For years (if not decades), most Muslims have been silent about radical Islamic terrorism. Finally, one Muslim group had the guts to speak out against a well-known Middle Eastern terrorist organization.
Here are the details from Newsmax.com and Middle East Eye:
“A non-profit American Muslim organization trying to show that extremist Islamist groups do not represent their religion has launched a poster campaign in the United States which has drawn much attention in social media.
“Sound Vision, which fights against Islamophobia and challenges extremism and radicalism among Muslim youth, created a giant billboard in Chicago that reads ‘Hey ISIS, you suck,’ quoting the Quoran’s ‘Life is Sacred’ and signing it ‘From: #ActualMuslims.’
“Sound vision official Leena Suleiman told Salon that her organization ‘launched the campaign in light of the constant pressure on American Muslims to condemn ISIS, especially since Muslims are the biggest victims of ISIS.’
“Suleiman went on to explain. ‘That’s been a huge problem in the media. The very fact that ISIS is a menace to humanity, and foremost to Muslims, and not just to people of other or no faiths, is a huge piece of the puzzle that is consistently and unfortunately overlooked.'”
We applaud Ms. Suleiman and Sound Vision for having the courage to speak out against Islamic terror. They probably face a lot of direct and indirect pressure to stay silent on this issue.
Do you think this criticism of radical Jihadists will inspire other Muslims to speak out as well?
