President Donald Trump on Sunday quietly approved a federal disaster declaration for several counties in California that were ravaged by flooding, mudslides and other damage, leaving liberals with little complain about.
According to a White House news release, the president declared parts of California a major disaster area and ordered federal assistance to supplement state, tribal and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe weather between Feb. 1 and Feb. 23.
The Fresno Bee reported that more than a half-billion dollars would be available to counties, including $274 million to repair damage done to the Oroville Dam spillway.
Trump had already declared California a major disaster from January storm damage.
Gov. Jerry Brown appealed to the president for the funding in February, noting that the widespread impact from flood waters included damage to public infrastructure.
The Bee reported that the appeal was made in “trepidation” because of Trump’s previous threat to cut federal funding from “sanctuary cities” in the state, but added that the president came through on the requests. This despite the leftists in California continuing their movement to resist Trump at every turn and even impeach him.
