Trump Blasts London Mayor

President Trump tore into London’s left-wing Mayor Sadiq Khan Sunday in the wake of a terror attack in London that left at least seven dead and dozens injured — after Khan told Londoners there is “no reason to be alarmed.”

Terrorists drove a van through crowds near London Bridge Saturday night, before rampaging through a nearby market and stabbing people, before they were eventually being shot by armed police. Their identities have not yet been revealed by authorities.

Khan, who became London’s first Muslim mayor last year and has become known for making bizarre remarks about terrorism, told Londoners that there was nothing to be alarmed about as the city ramps up its police presence in the wake of the attack.

“Londoners should be aware that there will be additional armed and unarmed police officers on our streets from tonight in order to keep Londoners, and all those visiting out city safe,” he said.

“I want to reassure all Londoners, and all our visitors, not to be alarmed. Our city remains one of the safest in the world,” he said.

President Trump, who said earlier Sunday on Twitter that “we must stop being politically correct and get down to the business of security for our people,” attacked Khan for telling people not to be alarmed in the wake a major terror attack on the city, the third attack in the UK in just a few months.

  1. While I support President Trump in most things, I think it would serve him better if he broke off his attack on this London mayor.
It’s not that the mayor hasn’t said things that are questionable, but it isn’t the place of a US President to pick a fight with the mayor of a foreign country, even if the major is in the wrong.
It would be just like if Kim Jong-Un picked a fight with the mayor of Boston, or some other US city.

    • Sorry, RB, but you are totally wrong in your assessment of the London murders. The mayor should be made to stand before the people of London and Trump did that. If you conclude this as “picking a fight” then that is your option but your opinion is all you have to offer. Incidentally, your analogy suggests you haven’t the foggiest idea of how to couch a logical parallel. In short, “it sucks”.

      • Sorry Mesaman that you don’t agree with me on this. That is your right to disagree, but it’s important to note that is your opinion, just as what I said was mine, and all you have to offer is your opinion.
The mayor of London does need to be made to stand before the people of London, he has made many ridiculous statements concerning Islamic terrorism in the past. Obviously, many feel that he just doesn’t have the ability to handle such a complex and dangerous situation as the terrorism that his city and country faces.
But what good does it accomplish for President Trump to pick a fight and then keep it going? The mayor of London doesn’t answer to the POTUS. To keep up this fight just takes valuable time away from what needs to be done at home and accomplishes nothing.
I support President Trump in the vast majority of what he does, but in my opinion, I feel that his would be better spent fighting the battle at home with the Democrats/liberals which are obstructing his every move, doing what he can to advance his agenda at home, and working toward fixing all that ails this country instead of fighting with some insignificant city leader halfway around the world.
And if you think I’m wrong to have an opinion different from our presidents, I would like to say simply, I support President Trump and think he’s doing his best to fix our problems. He’s probably the best one equipped right now to do that. But that doesn’t mean that I’m some mindless follower than agrees with everything he says or does, like the brain dead Obama followers did.
While I agree with most of what he does, I still reserve the right to think for myself and disagree when I think Trump is wrong.
It’s not worth much, but it is my opinion and I have every right to it, just as you do yours.

    • Who are you to give the president of the United States advice? And who are you to decide what the president should or should not do? It doesn’t sound much like you support President Trump. You sound more like an Obama boy.

      • First let me get one thing straight. I have never been a supporter of Obama, not during the entire 8 years he was in office. He has single-handily done more to damage this country than any other person I know of.
Now that’s out of the way, I’m not advising President Trump, I am stating my opinion, which I have the right to do, unless you want to be like the liberals at Berkely U and tell me that I don’t have the right to express an opinion.
Now getting down to the feud between Trump and the mayor of London. I said what I said because I don’t think it serves Trump’s best interests and the interests of this country to pick a fight with the mayor of a city of a different country, especially a country like the UK which is one of our oldest and most loyal allies.
Is the mayor an idiot? Did the mayor spout a lot of nonsense about telling the people of London to get used to terrorist attacks, and that there’s nothing to worry about? Has the mayor made several ridiculous comments about terrorism in London? Yes, yes, and yes.
But even acknowledging all that, I still think it’s wrong for Trump to start a feud with the mayor for several reasons. First of all, we have more important problems in the US to work on that trying to criticize a mayor in another country.
With Republican control of the presidency, the House and Senate, we have a golden opportunity to get a lot done, but time is slipping by and we’re not getting as much done as we should be.
With Democrats/liberals fighting and sabotaging Trump at every opportunity, I feel that his time would be better spent trying to get rid of the leakers, get back on course and pass some of the legislation that he promised in his campaign. He’s trying, but he’s meeting opposition at every corner.
Fighting with an unimportant mayor in London takes away from what we could be accomplishing here. Besides, the mayor is small potatoes. It’s the Prime Minister and the Parliment that sets rules pertaining to how they are going to fight Islamic terrorists, not the major.
I would much rather see President Trump spend his time fighting our opponents within our government and countries supporting terrorism, instead of fighting with an insignificant mayor, especially since the UK is one of our allies.
Besides, didn’t Trump campaign with the idea something to the effect that he wants to be the president of the US, not the president of the world? Trying to intimidate and tell the mayor of London that he is wrong and is an idiot is something that the POTUS, in my opinion, shouldn’t be doing, even if it is the truth. There are bigger fish to fry.
There is so much that needs to be done in this country, and as we’ve seen, action moves at a snail’s pace. Why waste time fighting with an insignificant mayor instead of making progress at home?

          • I see that when the liberal Kool-aid truck went by, you bought a double portion.
Typical liberal, can’t even enter an intelligent conversation without insults and name calling.

    • RB you are just as stupid as Trump – the London mayor (not major) deplored the terrorist attack and told the citizens of London to not be afraid of the increased police and military presence on the streets and some of them are armed. Take a grade school course in English and learn to speak, read, and write the language.

      • Well excuse me. It’s obvious that we all pale in comparison to your superior intellect and knowledge on all things.
I’m certain that the mayor of London did deplore the terrorist attacks, but some of the comments he has made definitely do not show his determination to rid the threat of terrorist attacks from London.
Remarks like how the people of London should just accept terrorist attacks as part of living in a big city, to me is very telling. No mayor, no one, should ever tell people to get used to terrorist attacks. He should be telling his people that they will rid the city of terrorist scum instead of telling them to learn to accept them.
But I’m not here to comment or criticize the mayor of London. If you were half as intelligent as you think you are, you would have realized that while I consider myself a supporter of President Trump, I was pointing out how I feel that he is wrong in feuding with the mayor of London and I don’t want to spend time talking about the city leader of a country thousands of miles away.
Why don’t you take a grade school class in reading and comprehension so that you can understand what people are saying. A good course in English and some pointers on how to communicate without insults and name calling might be in order.
In almost all cases, I’ve found that someone who can’t communicate without hurling insults, name calling, and pointing out a simple typo, are not anywhere near as superior or as intelligent as they think they are.

  2. We all know where Trump’s coming from, he’s got this guy’s number like most of us do based on statements he”s made such as, London and NY just need to “get used to terrorism”, that terrorism is “part and parcel of living in a big city”, and that “moderate Muslims are Uncle Toms”: This, imam kahn, is the back-drop from which President Trump formed his opinion on you and your response to terrorism, he knows you’re a supporter at worst or a sympathizer at best!

  3. Is this Khan the Mayor who told the White British Citizens that now that the ISLAMIC MUSLIMS out number the Whites that the Whites would now have to ASSIMILATE to them. From what I’ve read this is the way they operate as they build in numbers not ASSIMILATING and them the ISLAMIC MUSLIMS WANT SHARIAH LAW. Kinda like what will happen here as they already live in cities where police won’t go and are already using SHARIAH LAW.

  4. Londons’ Mayor is a Muslim sympathizer who believes in Sharia Law and does’nt see what it is doing to England. They should, in Leo Deroachers line” Trow da bum out”.
