Sen. Richard Burr didn’t do himself any favors when he decided to go against his fellow Republicans.
Burr sits as Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, but not one Republican member was willing to support his call to subpoena Donald Trump Jr. to testify.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had opposed the move after declaring the Russia hoax to be over as “case closed,” But Burr went forward with it anyway and is now facing the consequences.
Multiple Republicans slammed Burr for the move, Sen. Rand Paul and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy included among them.
They weren’t the only ones upset with the move though.
Even more telling of Burr’s fall from grace, not one Republican came to his defense when calls for his resignation started to circulate.
It looks like in one big blunder Burr has sealed his fate.
