John Bolton resigned as the National Security Adviser to President Donald Trump on the disagreement over the lightening of sanctions against Iran.
Bolton resigned one day after Trump suggested relieving the Islamic nation’s serious economic sanctions, a source near Bolton informed the media outlet.
Bolton disagreed with providing suppression relief to Iran and “believed the maximum pressure campaign was working,” Axios stated.
The discussion took place on Monday. Bolton resigned his position on Tuesday.
One day later, the Associated Press revealed that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani had “signaled approval” of Bolton’s departure. Bolton is commonly regarded as a war hawk that has definitely made Iran uncomfortable this year in the Middle East due to enhanced tensions that Iran has created.
Although Bolton told journalists he had resigned on his own accord, Trump stated he was asking for Bolton’s resignation because Bolton’s “services” in his administration were “no longer needed”
