What is his problem?
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo recently slammed Mitch McConnell proposing states to call for bankruptcy during the crisis.
Cuomo stated it as “one of the the really dumb ideas of all time.”
Cuomo said, “We’ve been talking about funding for state and local governments, and it was not in the bill that the House is going to pass today. They said, ‘Don’t worry, don’t worry, don’t worry — the next bill.’ As soon as the Senate passed it – this current bill – Sen. Mitch McConnell goes out and he says, maybe the states should declare bankruptcy. OK.”
Let’s talk about fairness, Mitch.
NYS puts $116 billion more into the federal pot than we take out.
Kentucky TAKES $148 billion more from the federal pot than they put in.
But we don’t deserve help now because the 15,000 people who died here were predominately democrats?

McConnell had originally stated, “I mean, we all represent states. We all have governors regardless of party who would love to have free money. And that’s why I said yesterday we’re going to push the pause button here, because I think this whole business of additional assistance for state and local governments need[s] to be thoroughly evaluated.”
“I would certainly be in favor of allowing states to use the bankruptcy route. It saves some cities. And there’s no good reason for it not to be available.”
